Lewes Fire Department awards annual scholarships

The Lewes Fire Department awarded its annual scholarships during its August business meeting.

The T.A. Shipley Scholarship of $1,000 is presented annually in memory of a deceased member with past life member William H. Stevenson III being recognized this year. The scholarship was awarded to Mariko Daisey, who will be attending UCLA to study Spanish and political science.

The Jones Scholarship donated annually by Bob and Pat Jones is presented in memory of their son, past member Steven R. Jones. The $1,000 scholarship was divided between Aislynn Stabner and Austin MacCoy, who also split the award last year. Both students continue to perform well in their areas of study.

The Lewes Fire Department wishes the winners continued success in their studies and future endeavors.
