Dr. Parsons is please to offer the pro-fractional laser, or Fraxel, for exceptional treatment of deep lines and wrinkes.

Fractional Laser Resurfacing is one of the best procedures available  to treat facial wrinkles, creases, laxity, skin tone and skin  texture. Here at Renove Med Spa in Rehoboth Beach, Dr. Parsons has chosen to provide what is considered to be the best device currently available for her clients, the DOT Therapy (Dermal Optical Thermolysis). DOT Therapy, also know as fractional laser resufacing, or “fraxel”,  uses a wavelength that is identical to the traditional CO2 laser, – think “Sex in the City” laser treatment that Samantha had done. However, instead of treating the entire surface of the skin, which does leave the patient looking like a burn victim for several weeks, the DOT fractionated laser, while treating the entire face,  scatters the laser pulses, into a fractionated or grid like pattern. In this way the DOT fractionated laser creates micro laser punctures in the skin, while leaving a majority of the surrounding skin untouched. It is in this way that the micro injuries to the skin still stimulate collagen repair, with a shortened recovery time.

“I think the DOT has a couple of advantages over some of the other devices. It is faster than most of them, which considering patient comfort and convenience, that’s a real advantage. The other thing is it’s very versatile… how deep you go, how tight you put your dots, and how the shape of your pattern, and all those things add to a more versatile device and treatment options for our patients,” says Dr. Parsons. “It is also being used to treat acne scarring and stretch marks.” Dr. Parsons currently has the only DOT fractional laser in Delaware and Maryland.

The disadvantages to a DOT Therapy (Dermal Optical Thermolysis) treatment is that there is still a recovery time of several days. Acquaphor or vaseline ointment must be applied to the treated areas for at least 24 to 48 hours, and treatments are moderately painful. Though with the topical anesthetic that Dr. Parsons provides, treatments are tolerated easily.  ”Recovery is not difficult and goes relatively quickly. Realistically, on the face, our patients have about a week or so of social downtime, 2-3 days where they’re swollen, and really shouldn’t put on makeup, after day 3 they typically are just red and they cover it with makeup.
