Discover Bethany Beach's newest restaurant 99 Sea Level this fall

September 12, 2015

With the vacation crowd dissipating and the meters coming out of rotation Tuesday, Sept. 15, the time is ripe for locals to rediscover the town of Bethany Beach and its newest restaurant, 99 Sea Level. Located right on the Bethany Beach boardwalk on Hollywood Street in the Ocean Suites Hotel, 99 Sea Level is the newest hot spot for locals to enjoy phenomenal oceanfront views.

At the helm in the kitchen is Chef Danio Somoza, who has worked as an executive chef for Bethany Blues as well as Fins Ale House. He has been meticulously poring over the menus since before the opening, working to ensure the highest quality and cutting-edge innovation. Marrying local flavor with culinary skill, both the lunch and dinner menus are full of delicious choices sure to be fast favorites, like the decadent seafood mac 'n’ cheese.

Somoza sees how passionate people have become about local food, and wanted to answer that call in the menu he created. Sourcing local seafood and produce from names that year-round residents will easily recognize, such as Bennett Orchards in Frankford and Fishkiller's in Dagsboro, is an important cornerstone of the farm-to-table mission at 99 Sea Level. Somoza also adds personal touches, like handmade yucca/potato chips, which satisfy the palate and round out the comfortable feel in the midst of a more refined experience.

It is the touch of elegance so cunningly mixed with the familiar that allows customers to feel instantly at home in 99 Sea Level. It’s in the silky lobster bisque, accented with saffron and Enoki mushrooms, and it’s in the Kobe beef burger, carefully topped with an over-easy egg which breaks perfectly, spilling over the bun and onto the plate. From fish tacos to a delicious cut of halibut, the menu takes established favorites and elevates them. Somoza urges customers to check back often, as he changes the menu seasonally.

Visitors are invited to come and see the beach in a whole new light…by the glow of the comfortable fireplace or with a hand-crafted, specialty cocktail from the bar. As the seasons change, the staff and management at 99 Sea Level hope locals will come in for everything from a coffee drink enjoyed on the patio to business lunches and date nights. They’ve created a versatile space that welcomes a variety of occasions.

99 Sea Level is open at 11 a.m. every day. It takes a limited amount of reservations, in order to keep tables open for walk-ins. Visit 99 Hollywood St. in Bethany Beach or go to www.99sealevel.com for details.
