Sophomore Zack Gelof scored on a header in the first 48 seconds of the game off a Tyler Malloy kick to pace the Cape soccer squad to a 2-1 win over Indian River. Ulysis Slagle padded the score with a nifty kick at the corner of the cage off a corner kick by Tyler Malloy to give the Vikings a 2-0 lead.
The only score by the Indians came on a misfire on a Vikings clear that bounced over Brent Hochrein's head to make the score 2-1.
Cape head coach Patrick Kilby is the son of Steve Kilby, the Indian River head coach, which made the game a little more of a rivalry than in years past.
