From Montreux, Switzerland, pianist Alex Bugnon's life was surrounded by the atmosphere of the famous Montreux Jazz Festival; which instigated his love of the jazz piano.
His uncle, the legendary Donald Byrd, and dear friend Herbie Hancock, shaped this artist’s unparalleled career. He is recognized as a prolific and energetic force on the contemporary jazz scene.
Bugnon will join Matt Marshak and Steve Cole for a unique performance at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Performing Theatre of Rehoboth Elementary School.
Think late 1970s through the 1980s when you think about R&B and jazz and you have the brilliant sound of Matt Marshak's guitar. His talent is so recognized that he was recently invited to perform at the Dubai International Jazz Festival, the Mallorca Jazz Festival in Spain, and the Augsburg Jazz Festival in Germany. Matt’s guitar voice is well on its way to becoming legendary.
The smooth sound of Steve Cole’s tenor sax has given him several #1 hits and the Prism Award for Best New Artist at the 2000 Oasis Smooth Jazz Awards. He is a professor/advisor of music business at the University of St. Thomas, and had the honor of performing on the jazz classic album, “To Grover, With Love.”
