Emergency personnel administer "aid" to a member of the crew of a LifeNet helicopter on the landing pad on top of Beebe Healthcare in Lewes during a Nov. 11 drill simulating a helicopter crash. Three crew members suffered simulated critical injuries and had to be removed from the heliport. An alternative landing zone for another helicopter had to be established to transport the victims.
Beebe staff, Lewes and Rehoboth Beach firefighters and Sussex County paramedics participated in the exercise.
Also, those participating in the drill were shown the emergency shut-down procedures of a running helicopter.
