Madison Mitchell participates in Miss Delaware Teen USA
Madison Mitchell, a Cape Henlopen High School freshman, participated in the Miss Delaware Teen USA/Miss Delaware pageant in Wilmington Nov. 28 and 29.
According to Miss Teen USA officials, the goal of the pageant is to identify young ladies who are “savvy, goal-oriented and aware. The contestants who become part of the Miss Universe organization display those characteristics in their everyday lives, both as individuals who participate in the competitions to advance their careers, personal and humanitarian goals, and as women who seek to improve the lives of others.”
Mitchell was chosen as one of 28 young women ranging from age 4 to 18 to participate in the competition. She was the youngest teen in her division to compete and this was her first pageant. She underwent a preliminary event starting Saturday morning with an interview panel where six judges peppered her with questions regarding her personal history and current events. Following the question-and-answer session, Mitchell was presented with the Miss Cape Henlopen sash.
She spent the remainder of the day in rigorous rehearsals for the live show portion of the competition. All of the contestants participated in a dance number at the beginning of the show. Later that evening, Mitchell competed in the evening gown and swimsuit portions of the competition. She was selected as one of the top 12 contestants.
Mitchell was thrilled with the overall experience and said, "Thank you to everyone who has supported me through this amazing journey! I have learned so much this weekend and enjoyed every second of it. The girls in this pageant were so amazing and so caring, I hope to stay in touch with each and every one of them. From the experience and placing in the top 12, I am so thankful and grateful for my family, friends, supporters, and sponsors. I can't believe that this weekend is all over and I am so excited for next year!"
The cost to enter the pageant was $1,090. Mitchell and her family had local supporters such as Johnson Orthodontics, The Dental Group, Crossfit Unlocked, Surf Bagel, Jakes Seafood House, Sposato Landscaping, and additional family and friends.
