Delaware Beach Life magazine wins IRMA awards

December 24, 2015

Delaware Beach Life magazine and its contributors won six Silver Awards (second place) and two Awards of Merit (honorable mention) in its circulation category in the annual competition of the International Regional Magazine Association, which represents magazines from the United States and Canada. The organization includes such notable magazines as Adirondack Life, Arizona Highways, Cottage Life and Down East.

“I am so proud of the entire Delaware Beach Life team, as we all work together toward the same goal of creating the best magazine in coastal Delaware,” said Publisher Terry Plowman. “It was quite a thrill to represent the winners at the magazine conference, and to hear Delaware Beach Life’s name announced eight times during the awards ceremony.”

Delaware Beach Life, the premier feature magazine of coastal Delaware, publishes eight issues a year with stories and photographs showcasing the culture and lifestyle of coastal Sussex County. Features and regular departments highlight the area’s arts, history, people and places.

The following contributors won Silver Awards:

• Lynn Parks as Magazine Writer of the Year. In addition to her IRMA award this year, Parks won four first-place awards in the Delaware Press Association contest and three first-place awards from the National Federation of Press Women, all for work done in 2014.

• Tony Pratt for his snowy owl photograph that graced the Holiday 2014 cover.

• Lauren Wolf in the essay category (all circulation divisions) for her funny commentary To Pee or Not to Pee, which appeared in the June 2014 issue.

In addition, Delaware Beach Life itself was recognized with Silver Awards for:

• Overall art direction.

• Writing, editing and design of the Beach Briefs section, in the regular department category.

• Its companion website, delawarebeachlife.com.

The following contributors won Awards of Merit:
