Ellen Lorraine McCabe, Lewes financial officer, is the recipient of the 2010 Elaine Bisbee Award.
Lewes Mayor Jim Ford and City Council members Victor Letenoff, Barbara Vaughan, Ted Becker and Stephanie Tsantes bestowed the honor at the panel’s March 7 meeting in City Hall.
The award, which includes $500, is given in recognition of a city employee’s outstanding performance and dedication. Fellow city employees nominate candidates, and their names are given to the city manager. The names go to Mayor and City Council for review and selection of a recipient.
McCabe, 35, has been the city’s financial officer for five years. In addition to financial management, she is also custodian of financial records. She was born in Frankford and lives in Millsboro.
The award is named in honor of Elaine Bisbee, who served as city manager 22 years. She worked for the city 35 years, retiring in 2006.
