Up to 150 students from low-income families could attend the University of Delaware without racking up student debt thanks to a $3 million grant from the Give Something Back Foundation and it's founder, Bob Carr, CEO of Heartland Payment Systems.

“This program will make a life-changing difference for 150 Delawareans, who will benefit from a tremendous gift — the gift of zero debt,” said outgoing UD President Patrick Harker. “We are proud and grateful to be a partner in this mission.”  As of July 1, Patrick Harker is officially the President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.

The program is open to 9th grade students and there are detailed steps to initiate the process, which begins every fall with scholarship winners announced each March.  The first applicants for the 2019 graduating class have already completed the application process with the selections announced this coming March.

If you or your family are interested in more information on how to apply and be selected for next year's scholarship (the student would now be in the 8th grade), find all the details here.
