Several vehicles involved in Rehoboth crash
A Magnolia man is facing multiple charges following a police pursuit that ended in a multi-vehicle crash on Route 1 in Rehoboth Beach.
About 7:32 p.m., June 18, a Rehoboth Beach police officer observed a white Infiniti Q50 traveling westbound at a high rate of speed on Rehoboth Avenue. Radar confirmed the vehicle was exceeding the posted limit, and the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
The driver, Isaiah L. Stokes, 18, of Magnolia, attempted to flee. A short vehicle pursuit followed, during which Stokes committed several traffic violations. The pursuit ended when Stokes collided with two vehicles at the intersection of Route 1 and Shuttle Road.
Stokes was taken into custody without incident. He was treated at a local hospital for an injury and released. No other injuries were reported at the scene.
Stokes was charged with felony disregarding a police officer’s signal and several misdemeanors related to the pursuit. He was released pending a future court appearance.
