Funland Opening Highlights Mother's Day Weekend 2017 in Coastal Delaware
Memorial Day is still a couple of weeks away, but this second weekend in May is a special one for many reasons in coastal Delaware. First and foremost, it's Mother’s Day, a time we all show the special ladies in our lives how much they mean to us.
But once the cards are handed out and lunch is finished, take mom by the hand and guide her to the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk for Funland’s opening weekend of 2017.
The bumper cars, the Skeeball, the kiddie rides, the arcade games and more will be open this weekend, ready to officially welcome another great season at the Delaware beaches.
And this year mark’s another first for Funland as well, and that’s the addition of a new ride that promises upside down views of Rehoboth Beach. It should be a lot of fun and we encourage everyone to visit the boardwalk this weekend and enjoy themselves.
Other events this weekend include the Nanticoke Indian Heritage Day in Oak Orchard, a fun happening in Ocean City and two pet-friendly events in Lewes and Dewey Beach.
So get on out there and have some fun this weekend. Make it one to remember here in beautiful coastal Delaware.
Funland Opening Weekend 2017 (May 12-14). In what has become a highly anticipated Mother’s Day Weekend tradition in Rehoboth Beach, Funland officially opens it’s doors for the 2017 season this Saturday at 1 p.m.
And there’s a new ride this year, adding to the anticipation. The SuperFlip 360 will give riders a 360 degree view of Funland, the Boardwalk and the beach and promises plenty of thrills and memories for years to come.
Remember, however, that the games and rides at Funland will only be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for the month of May (as well as on Memorial Day), but will open seven days a week beginning on Friday, June 2.
The Haunted Mansion will be closed on opening weekend, but will be open beginning on Saturday, May 20. For more information on Funland’s 55th season in Rehoboth, visit funlandrehoboth.com.

Admission to the Tribe’s museum in Oak Orchard will be free during the event, which is billed as a celebration of the Nanticoke’s heritage and culture.
Activities for the day include performances by the Nanticoke Dance Troupe and the Tidewater Agency Drummers, face painting, native arts and crafts and more.
Pooches in the Park (May 13). Lewes Canalfront Park officially goes to the dogs this Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m., for the anticipated “Pooches in the Park” event.
Activities include interactive demonstrations, dock diving dogs, exhibitors, games and prizes and family photos with your pooch.
