Rehoboth "Gumbo Cook-off"
Mardi Gras is fast approaching, and with Mardi Gras comes a new tradition in Rehoboth. It may only be a few years old, but it is fast becoming one of the most popular festivals on the eastern shore. The "Gumbo Cookoff" is the climax of a weekend filled with New Orleans themed parties and Cajun filled menus around downtown Rehoboth. Patrons can buy a ballot for only $5 cash at any of the participating restaurants from now through the day of the cook-off, and choose to try a sample at every restaurant that is participating, or try at least six of the participating restaurants if they would like their vote to count for the best gumbo. Most of the restaurants participating will have drink specials to compliment the occasion as well as offering up a menu that will bring the Bayou flavor to the coast of Delaware.
Tickets will be available at the Frogg Pond and Purple Parrot in Rehoboth Beach begining Friday, February 3rd, as well at some of the other participating restaraunts that choose to do so. For more information find us on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Rehoboth-Mardi-Gras/319868878051331 or email rehomardigras@yahoo.com . We look forward to a huge turnout so buy your ticket early as the numbers are limited.
Since this is a three day holiday, coinciding with President's Day weekend, a list of hotels that will be offering special packages will be updated on the Facebook page, as soon as they become available. Keep checking back often.
