‘Silicon Valley East’ author to sign books April 12
Fenwick Island author Gina M. Wilson will sign copies of her new novel, “Silicon Valley East,” from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, April 12, at Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach.
Drawing loosely from her own work in healthcare information technology and the experiences of her colleagues, clients and fellow business owners, Wilson’s novel is set in the days before the use of electronic medical records was widely established. The inspiring story follows a young woman’s journey to entrepreneurship, fueled by her passion to put computers to work for patients.
Protagonist Christina Como knows her way around the ER and a computer room. After a revealing truth and shocking rejection leave her with shattered dreams, Christina sets out to reclaim her life. Her passion and drive help her outpace the naysayers and bullies to move beyond her family's expectations and traditional gender roles.
Set in the early 1980s, at the dawn of explosive innovations in healthcare technology, Christina’s journey leads her from Delaware to Manhattan to Philadelphia’s Main Line and all over the country. She uncovers the inner workings of hospitals nationwide and finds herself at the forefront of the future. Christina knows lives can be saved, yet the tech world is not moving fast enough. There are a hundred reasons why she shouldn't proceed, but there’s one compelling reason why she must.
