14th RD Democrats to meet April 9
The 14th Representative District Democratic Committee will meet Wednesday, April 9, at Iron Hill Brewery on Route 1 north of Rehoboth Beach. Lt. Gov. Kyle Evans Gay will be the featured speaker. A former state senator from the 5th District in North Wilmington, Evans Gay will discuss the goals and challenges of the new Democratic administration. She campaigned on a platform to make life easier for kids and families, expressing support to raise the minimum wage, provide security for seniors and expand access to childcare.
The program will begin at 5 p.m. with a Dutch treat dinner, followed by Evans Gay’s remarks at 6 p.m. and committee business at 6:30 p.m.
After receiving a law degree from Boston University, Evans Gay began her career as a Delaware deputy attorney general and Delaware Superior Court clerk. She then worked in private practice and performed pro bono work on behalf of children in foster care. Recently, she has volunteered with several Delaware nonprofits, led both professional and civic organizations, and served on the Delaware Public Integrity Commission.
The 14th RD Committee represents Democrats who live in and around Lewes, Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach. All registered Democrats are welcome to participate in 14th RD meetings. Those planning to attend the April 9 meeting should RSVP by Monday, April 7, to c.fruchtman@comcast.net.
