Albert Scott Short Jr., served the Lord
Albert Scott Short Jr., 94, of Newark, met his Savior, Jesus Christ, Monday, Oct. 3, 2022, nine days after fracturing his neck in a fall.
Albert, also known as Al or Granddaddy, was born Sep. 30, 1928, and was preceded in death by his parents Albert Scott Short Sr. and Annie Bell (Tatum) Short of Sumter County, Ga.; and his sister Frances Barnes of Camilla, Ga. Albert is remembered by his wife of 77 years, Louise (Robinson) Short; his son, Ronald Short (Dianne); his daughter, Anita Sherren (Ronald); four grandchildren: Amy Sherren (Bob Gemignani), Michelle Crowe (Bill), Christopher Short (Kelly), and Catherine Short. Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
He earned journeyman electrician status with The IBEW in 1953. Construction of the oil refinery in Delaware City brought the Short Family to Delaware in 1956 and he retired from DuPont Chambers Works after 28 years in 1987. Albert enjoyed playing the guitar. He won many ribbons for his carvings of songbirds and ducks. His lifelong passion was fishing. Albert served the Lord by teaching Sunday School, being a youth leader, a deacon and a song leader in the various churches he attended. He also led people to save faith in Jesus Christ.
