An Amish crop of soybeans after wheat back in 1985

August 4, 2020

This photograph from 1985 shows an Amish farm near Dover in Kent County with a crop of soybeans coming up in a harvested wheat field. Piles of cut straw, what’s left over after the wheat berries are harvested, still stand in the fields waiting for eventual pick-up for use as animal bedding on the farm or for sale.

According to the Maryland-Delaware Crop Reporting Service, 55 percent of the 2020 Delaware soybean crop is in good condition while 60 percent of the state’s corn crop is also in good condition.
