October 11, 2011

The Delaware Community Reinvestment Action Council presented the James H. Sills Jr. CRA Leadership Award to Amy Walls of Seaford at its annual Celebrate CRA luncheon held Oct. 4 in Wilmington. It was one of three public service awards which marked the 34th anniversary of the Community Reinvestment Act and DCRAC’s 24th birthday.

The award honored Walls, who is assistant CRA director for Discover Bank, for personal and organizational commitment to the state of Delaware and the DCRAC. With thousands of Delwareans working in the financial services industry, CRA officers are unique as they are investment professionals who champion innovation and reinvestment in low- and moderate-income communities.

As assistant CRA director since 2006,  Walls' responsibilities include marketing, community outreach, charitable investments and branch banking. The bank’s CRA program recently won the Consumer Bankers Association’s Joe Belew Award for Community Development for their work with Milford Housing Development Corporation. Amy’s volunteer work includes her positions as vice president of the Board of Directors of the Diamond State Community Land Trust, treasurer of the Executive Committee of the Sussex Child Health Promotion Coalition, a member of the Board of Directors of Sussex County Habitat for Humanity and a member of the Board of Directors of the Delaware Housing Coalition.

Walls is a graduate of Salisbury University with a bachelors of arts degree in English. She lives in Sussex County with her husband, Scott.
