Angola by the Bay awards annual scholarship
The Angola by the Bay Sea Gals Women’s Social Group presented its annual college scholarship award July 13 at its regular meeting in the community’s clubhouse.
This year’s awardee is Anastazia Skiles. Joining Anastazia for the presentation were her mother, Victoria Skiles, and her grandparents Howard and Vicki Eastridge, who are full-time residents of the community.
During the school year, Anastazia lives in Coatesville, Pa., and she resides locally in Angola by the Bay during the summer.
An honors student and graduate of Coatesville High School, Anastazia has worked during the summers in Delaware at Jungle Jim’s and at a local restaurant.
Anastazia will attend Alvernia University in Pennsylvania, where she plans to major in physical therapy. As she watched her grandparents age and have issues with mobility, Anastazia said she was inspired to study and help others with similar mobility issues.
Selection committee member Joan Caputo said, “What stood out about Anastazia was her essay; it won the committee over, talking about herself and her goals. The essay was indicative of her character and showed that she was very sweet and caring.”
