The Lewes Public Library is accepting applications for two sessions of a bilingual summer camp called ¡Hola, amigos! for children entering kindergarten, first grade or second grade.
Led by professional bilingual educators Mauricio Salinas and Sheila Oquendo, the immersive day camp is intended for both native English- and Spanish-speaking participants. Activities will include crafts, games, dances, music, singing and stories while students explore Spanish language and culture using the summer reading theme Color Our World.
The camp is free and runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday to Thursday, July 14 to 17, with a second identical session running July 21 to 24.
Interested families should apply for admission by Wednesday, April 30, at tinyurl.com/LPLHolaAmigos.
“Mauricio and Sheila have wowed us with their engaging Spanish story times at the library, and they’ve designed a summer program full of creativity and celebration,” said Jennifer Noonan, Lewes Public Library children’s librarian. “It will be a wonderful opportunity for our English- and Spanish-speaking friends to be immersed in Spanish language and culture together.”
