Arminio files for Delaware’s congressional seat

Third Republican to file for open office
July 9, 2024

Joseph A. Arminio filed July 8 to run for Delaware’s seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The Wilmington resident is the third Republican vying for the seat vacated by Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester, who is running for U.S. Senate.

Arminio has a PhD in political science with a concentration in national defense policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and he has worked with the American Enterprise Institute, the Department of Defense, and the Government Systems Division of Sprint.

Arminio said establishing a national infrastructure bank would tame inflation and benefit manufacturing. He said he opposes wars and medical tyranny, and he wants to slash federal spending, end public funding of abortion and support the revival of labor unions.

“I am for guns, free speech and free enterprise,” he said in a press statement. “Although I am well aware of the splendid contribution that immigrants have made – and continue to make – to our country, I want an end to open borders. I am against trade agreements – fast track or otherwise – that American workers are doomed to pay for with their jobs.”

Arminio will face Republican candidates Donyale Hall and John J. Whalen III in the Sept. 10 primary.
