Bagel Bombers team fundraiser at Surf Bagel Feb. 21

February 16, 2013

The 12U Bagel Bombers team will hold a fundraising Dine-In/Takeout event at Surf Bagel from 2 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 21. A percentage of all sales during those hours will be donated to the 12U Bagel Bombers baseball team for upcoming spring tournaments.

“We’re keeping it local,” said Dave Vitella, owner of Surf Bagel and also coach of the 12U Bombers team, and father of Bombers player Timmy. “Our players are eager to raise money to compete in local spring tournaments, most of which are played at Sports at the Beach in Georgetown.”

Russ Palmer, whose son Dane plays for the Bombers, is hopeful that along with players and their families, other members of the community will show their support for the team.

“We all need to eat dinner, but if you choose Surf Bagel that night, you’ll be helping an awesome group of 12-year-olds play spring baseball together,” said Palmer.

Surf Bagel recently extended its hours and expanded the menu to include dinner. New menu items include The Shorebreak Cheesesteak, the Faceplant (breaded and fried eggplant), The Jetty chicken tenders, the Rockfish Burrito, plus two new salads with made-from-scratch signature dressings.
