BCCS Georgetown opioid treatment center open for referrals

August 16, 2022

As opioid addiction continues to plague Delaware, Brandywine Counseling & Community Services has made easily accessible treatment a priority for the entire state. This is particularly important in Sussex and Kent counties, where services are often in short supply and difficult to access.

The BCCS Georgetown Treatment Center at 10 N. Railroad Ave. is now accepting outside referrals for its opioid treatment program for opioid and heroin addiction to expand this crucial service to another area of Delaware where opioid addiction numbers continue to surge. Previously, treatment was open only to referrals from other BCCS sites.

BCCS OTP provides medication-assisted treatments such as methadone, Vivitrol and buprenorphine/naloxone; individual, group and family counseling; intensive outpatient programs; and integrated specialty services, including the perinatal program and the infectious disease clinic.

“As the opioid crisis continues to morph as it grows throughout Delaware – fueled by prescription opioid abuse, heroin use and the prevalence of fentanyl in the illegal drug supply – the need for more treatment resources grows along with it,” said Lynn Morrison, CEO of BCCS. “Helping Delawareans overcome the challenges of addiction is one of our most daunting tasks. Expanding OTP services to the Georgetown site continues our outreach to some of the areas of the state that have been underserved by addiction treatment and counseling. We’re constantly trying to meet people where they are; this continues our mission to make sure places like western Sussex County get the services their residents need.”

BCCS statewide programs provide holistic care to individuals and their families, and focus not just on treatment, but on personal growth and building beautiful, meaningful lives.
