Beacon boys’ basketball downs Mariner 41-23

The Beacon boys’ basketball team garnered district bragging rights with a 41-23 victory over Mariner Feb. 6 at Cape’s gymnasium.
Chrystopher Hampton scored 13 points to lead the Beacon team. Nick Ryan scored 11 and Oz Batson hit for 10. Chris Carrier scored five, while Max Beck and Nate Re scored three and one, respectively.
Mariner’s Geordan Downing paced the team with 13 points. Troy McCrea hit four points, while teammates Joseph Ruark and Chris Prince added three points each.
Beacon will play Millsboro Middle Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Capital Classic, while Mariner will finish the regular season Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Dover Central Middle against Chipman.
