Book launch with Maribeth Fischer set Aug. 20

August 10, 2024

Maribeth Fischer, founder and executive director of the Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild, will launch her new novel, “A Season of Perfect Happiness,” during a happy hour book talk and signing at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the Lewes Public Library.

Fischer will be in conversation with Susan Kehoe, owner of Browseabout Books. The event will also be livestreamed via Zoom.

Fischer’s novel tells the story of Claire, 10 years after an unspeakable tragedy caused her to flee her hometown in Delaware. She has built a quiet, tidy life in Wisconsin and is finally finding joy with a new community of friends and family. But when a person from her past arrives, Claire’s worst mistake threatens her new life. If Claire chooses to share the parts of herself she has kept locked away for so long, will the family she has built still recognize her – and have a place for her?

Registration is required, and individuals will be asked to select virtual or in-person attendance when registering. To sign up, go to lewes.lib.de.us. Book copies will be available for purchase at the event.

Fischer has received three Delaware Division of the Arts fellowships and two Pushcart Prizes for her essays. Her previous books, “The Language of Good-bye” and “The Life You Longed For,” have been sold in seven countries. She holds an MFA in creative writing from Virginia Commonwealth University.
