Redner’s Markets is planning to open a grocery store on Route 9 near Five Points in spring 2021.
The Pennsylvania-based company has announced a partnership with Fernmoor Homes to open a Redner’s Fresh Market within the Vineyards community. The market will offer area residents locally grown produce, farm-fresh meat and dairy, handcrafted baked products, and an assortment of grab n’ go chef-inspired prepared meals by executive chef Tim Twiford. The fresh market-style store is a new concept for Redner’s, which opened its first fresh market location in April 2017 in Wyomissing, Pa. A second fresh market was opened in Audubon, Pa., in October.
The store is not the same as The Fresh Market in Rehoboth Beach, which is owned by a North Carolina-based company.
The Vineyards, approved by Sussex County officials in 2007, is a mixed-use community currently under construction. When complete, the community will feature condos, apartments, single-family homes and a variety of commercial and retail tenants.
Redner’s Markets is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2020 and operates 44 grocery stores and 21 quick shops throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware.
Officials from Redner’s and Fernmoor will be in Lewes Tuesday, Feb. 18, for a press event to discuss the partnership. Read more about the new store in the Friday, Feb. 21 edition of the Cape Gazette.
