Brenda Lee Bennett, loving mother, grandmother

January 25, 2025

Brenda Lee Bennett passed away Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025. She was born July 10, 1960.

Born in Wilmington, Brenda's journey was one of kindness, hard work, and unwavering support. A proud graduate of William Penn High School in New Castle, she went on to touch many lives through her dedication and warm spirit.

Brenda embraced every role with joy, from her days at Lloyd’s IGA deli to greeting travelers as a toll booth operator at Cape May-Lewes Ferry. However, her most cherished role was as a homemaker and mother, raising two beautiful daughters who became the heart of her world.

An avid reader and lover of the great outdoors, Brenda found happiness in the simplest pleasures — a good book or a day at the beach. She especially treasured Sundays spent at the drive-on beach with family and friends, creating memories filled with laughter and love. Her love for the beach was boundless, and she delighted in being on the boat with her husband, soaking up the sun and sea breeze.

Her family was her greatest joy, and her grandchildren were the light of her life.

Brenda's legacy of love continues through her daughters, Rhianna Abel (Leland) and Andrea Harpster (Craig). She leaves behind her adored grandchildren, Hannah Abel, Brinley Brosius and Luke Brosius. Brenda's affectionate nature extended to her feline companions, Stormy and Bogo, who brought her much happiness. She is reunited in peace with her loving husband, Bruce; and her parents, James Worthy and Marianne Piper.

A celebration of Brenda's life will be held on the beach she loved so much at a later date.
