The Music School of Delaware’s Cantabile Women’s Chorus performed a concert of Hope and Renewal to celebrate spring April 6 at Groome Church in Lewes. The show proceeds raised funds to benefit Lewes in Bloom and Beebe Medical Foundation’s Cancer Patient Special Needs Fund.
The concert was dedicated to the memory of Charles “Jeff” Jeffery Thompson and Blake Stevens.
Sean Flanigan, Beebe Medical Foundation gift officer, said the Cancer Patient Special Needs Fund assists individual patients who have limited financial resources and need help covering expenses. “It helps to pay so the patients can get the care that they need,” said Flanigan.
Joanne Ward, the chorus artistic director and conductor, said, “We are doing music that we hope will bring a positive note to this world in a time of serious unrest. No matter what side of the political spectrum you’re on, everyone’s on edge. They’re never knowing what they are going to greet when they wake up in the morning, and we wanted to bring them a program full of hopeful music.”
