Cape district lead nurse earns national certification

A Cape Henlopen School District school nurse leader has achieved the esteemed Nationally Certified School Nurse credential.

Awarded by the National Board for Certification of School Nurses, the designation given to Janet Butler, signifies the highest level of professional competency and commitment in the field of school nursing, officials said.

The NCSN certification is granted to school nurses who meet rigorous academic, professional, and clinical practice requirements, demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills to support student health and academic success. Candidates must pass a comprehensive examination that assesses expertise in areas such as health promotion, disease prevention, and crisis intervention within school settings.

Butler has been a vital part of Cape since joining the team in 2023-24 school year. She provides exceptional care to students and valuable guidance for district nurses. Butler helps to create an overall healthy and supportive learning environment. With the NCSN credential, she joins an elite group of certified professionals dedicated to advancing school health services nationwide.
