The Cape football team fell to 0-4 Sept. 23, as mistakes and turnovers led to the Senators scoring 34 straight points and handing the Vikings their fourth straight loss 34-21.
The Vikings committed five turnovers in the games, including an interception and five fumbles.
“It feels like Groundhog Day,” said Cape coach J.D. Maull. “We got up early 13-0, but we’ve got to put four quarters together. We gave up five turnovers in the second half. You can’t do that against a good team like Dover. We’ve got to eliminate the mistakes. We have had four different centers in five days due to injuries. That has hurt us.”
Cape had 282 total yards on offense. Hank D’Ambrogi ran for 59 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. Maurki James ran for 51 yards on 13 carries. Chancler Johnson carried five times for 48 yards and a touchdown. Daniel Saez ran for 29 yards on 10 carries. Thomas Messick ran for five yards and a touchdown.
The Vikings will host Delmar Friday, Oct. 8, for Homecoming.
