Cape Gazette goes prehistoric in Red Lodge, Montana

September 1, 2019

In July, Jackson Whitcomb, an incoming ninth grader at Sussex Academy, and his father, Bryan Whitcomb, traveled to Red Lodge, Montana to visit the Big Horn Basin Paleontology Institute of Montana & Wyoming.

They enjoyed a week of uncovering dinosaur fossils that will be taken to The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University.

Jackson found a neural complex of a Diplodocus that will eventually go on display in the museum and his father found a large sauropod vertebrae, a large sauropod rib and a large sauropod end of a femur.

Jackson is shown here with paleontology grad students while they take a break from digging to read the Cape Gazette.
