Cape High JROTC cadets recognized for service, academics

Cape High JROTC cadets were recognized Feb. 17 for community service and academic excellence.
Steve Curson, a Rehoboth Beach Homeowners’ Association board member, presented a plaque to Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Marina Santini in recognition of the cadets’ participation in a Wreaths Across America event held in Rehoboth Dec. 18.
The Cape JROTC Color Guard presented the colors and helped place more than 140 wreaths on veterans’ graves during the inaugural ceremony at Epworth Cemetery.
In addition to the service award, cadets received awards for their academic achievements during the first marking period.
Benjamin Jester, Luis Cotoc Ortiz and Thad Karl earned Cadet Command Distinguished Academic Awards. Kathryn Drumheller, Alonzo Gonzalez-Roblero, Gianna Decker and Rylee Tipton received Cadet Command Commendation Awards.
