July 1, 2019

For a new wild summer adventure, Cape May-Lewes Ferry offers a Cape May County Zoo package.

Participants can combine a scenic bay cruise with an animal safari for an unforgettable family day trip excursion. With over 250 species of animals, birds and reptiles amidst a beautiful garden, the zoo package is a roaring good time available every Sunday through Aug. 25, and every Tuesday and Thursday through Aug. 29.

“This world-class zoo offers entertaining activities for everyone, from a playground for the younger kids to a Tree to Tree Adventure Park for the thrill-seekers,” said Christopher Cox, Lewes customer service supervisor. “With its extensive natural environment and winding trails, the Cape May County Park and Zoo is an awesome family adventure, and it’s only a beautiful boat ride away!” TripAdvisor has consistently rated the Cape May County Park & Zoo as one of the top 25 zoos in the country.

The zoo also offers guests a one-of-a-kind experience with many different animals. Through the zoo’s animal encounter program, guests can pick a critter of their choice – giraffes, otters, primates, camels, or birds – and have a guided, up-close encounter in which they can feed and touch the animals.

This unforgettable day package includes a round-trip, walk-on ferry ticket from Lewes to Cape May, and shuttle service from the Cape May terminal to the Zoo and back. Reservations are required, as seating on the shuttle is limited.

For Sunday excursions, the ferry will depart from Lewes at 9:15 a.m. and arrive in Cape May at 10:30. A shuttle will transport guests to the zoo at 11. The shuttle will depart from the zoo no later than 4 p.m. so guests can catch the 5 p.m. ferry back to Lewes. Or they can enjoy dinner at the Cape May terminal at On the Rocks Dockside Grille and hop on the later ferry at 7 p.m.

For Tuesday and Thursday excursions, the ferry will depart from Lewes at 8:45 a.m. and arrive in Cape May at 10:15. A shuttle will transport guests to the zoo at 10:30. The shuttle will depart from the zoo no later than 3:30 p.m. for guests to take the 4:30 p.m. ferry back to Lewes or have dinner at On the Rocks and take the later 6 p.m. ferry.

Package cost is $30 for ages 14 and older, $18 for ages 6 to 13, and $7 for children 5 and under. To make a reservation, call 1-800-64-FERRY (33779). For more information, go to www.CMLF.com/zoo and www.cmczoo.com.
