Cape softball pounds the ball in win over Dover

Vikings score 20 runs in five innings

The Cape softball team wasn’t shy at the plate March 28, as the Vikings pounded 17 hits en route to a 20-0 five-inning, mercy-rule victory over Dover March 28.

Cape sophomore Bri Windish led off the first inning with a triple. She finished with a 3-for-4 performance with an RBI. Natalya Roundtree also went 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Sophomore Milena Buehler went 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Ava Calciano, Hayden Hudson, Bri Windish and Milena Buehler each delivered doubles, while Roundtree and Windish garnered a triple apiece.

Sophomore pitcher Abby Marsh went five innings, giving up just one hit while striking out nine batters. 

The Vikings host Early College School at 4:15 p.m., Friday, March 31.

He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
