Cape swimming splashes past Milford

The Cape boys’ swim team continued to dominate its opponents with a 98-43 victory over Milford Jan. 31 at the Sussex Family YMCA in Rehoboth Beach. The girls’ squad moved to 9-1 with a 91-30 win over the Bucs.

The girls’ squad took first in the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 free, 100 butterfly, 100 free, 500 free and 200 free relay. Milford won the 100 backstroke and the 100 breaststroke.

Milford won the 100 backstroke and the 100 breaststroke on the boys’ side.

“[Coach Bill Geppert] put together a lineup that gave everyone opportunities to swim more than their usual events,” said Cape senior Jenna Reinhold. “It was so fun to see everyone succeed in something new.”

“it was a great meet to let the younger girls get in events they aren’t usually in,” said senior Haley Hassell. “Watching Angie [McCarthy] and Claudia [Stazzone] take on the 500 was so fun to watch and cheer for them!”
