Senior Night at Cape’s Big House spotlighted a group of grapplers riding the wave of two straight Division I state championships who are moving into the meat grinder in pursuit of a third.
“When we are 100% healthy, we remain a strong contender,” said coach Chris Mattioni. “It’s great for Cape to be in the conversation with the best programs in the state.”

Cape boxed it up and delivered a 59-12 win over visiting Milford behind pins from Cale Baker (113), Nick Walker (132), Josh Wright (138), Andrew Schaen (150), Luke Bender (165), C.J. Fritchman (175) and Matt Couchman (215).
Other Cape wins were Braydon Cole (144) by tech fall, Hayden Wheeler (157) by tech fall, Tripp Gannon (106) by 7-2 decision and Holt Baker (126) by 8-0 major decision.
Milford wins came from Jordan Curry (190) by pin, Josue Villarreal Gomez (285) by 5-4 decision and Vincent Jenkins (120) by 4-0 decision.
Cape will wrestle at William Penn Saturday, Feb. 4.
Takedowns - In other big matches, Salesianum beat William Penn 44-17, Sussex Central beat Caravel 42-27 and Caesar Rodney beat Smyrna 50-24.
