Carla M. Logan, presidential award recipient

Carla M. Logan, 63, of Millersville, Md. passed Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, from ovarian cancer.

Carla was born and raised in Rehoboth Beach. She graduated from the University of Delaware with a masters degree in marine biology. Most of her professional career was spent at Constellation Energy LLC as director of environmental services where she specialized in Superfund site remediation and Clean Water Act 316(b) legislation. Carla received the Coastal America Partnership Award from President Barack Obama in 2010 for the Hail Cove Habitat Restoration project.

She was president and chairman of the board for the Severna Park Chamber of Commerce and enjoyed sailing, skiing, marine art, fine crafts, hiking and traveling the world. She was a gourmet cook and proficient horticulturist who raised orchids, gardened, and captured rare blooms in her photographs.

Carla is survived by her partner, Ray Lewis; her parents Edwina and Richard Mootz; sisters, Freda Norris, Maida (Henry) Graves and Resi (Phillip) Wolfe; two nieces; three nephews; five great-nieces; and three great-nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 14, at Barranco & Sons P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy., Severna Park.

In lieu of flowers, Carla’s wish was that donations be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Attn: Membership Department, 6 Herndon Ave., Annapolis, MD 21403, or the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Hwy., Annapolis, MD 21401.
