Carol M. Weber, had sweet disposition

Carol M. Weber, 83, of Milton, formerly of Wilmington, passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022, with family by her side.  

She was born May 18, 1939, in Wilmington, to the late Arthur E. Hitchen and the late M. Virginia (Jones) Hitchen.

She was a graduate of Wilmington High School, where she participated in basketball, volleyball, badminton and ping-pong. After graduation, she attended business school and upon graduation, she worked for Satterthwaite and Satterthwaite. During the 1960s, she was a bus driver in Wilmington. She moved to Rehoboth Beach in the 1970s, where she worked as a cashier at the A&P. Additionally, she worked as a teller at Bank of Delaware in Rehoboth Beach and then as a delivery driver for the Cape Gazette.

Carol was known as the neighborhood mom of Sheridan Square, where she maintained lasting friendships. She was an animal lover, had a sweet disposition and a great sense of humor. She was a loyal 76ers fan and never missed seeing a game.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband Eugene Weber Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan Dempsey, whom she lived with for the past 20 years; son-in-law, Mike; grandson, Scott D. Vickers Jr. of Milton; granddaughter, Virginia E. Walczak and her husband Mark of Nashville, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Nolan Vickers, Poppy Walczak and Goldie Walczak; and her cousin, George L. Jones and his wife Chris of New Castle.

Services are private.  

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her name to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
