Catherine Bernice Taylor Hall, retired state employee

May 6, 2019

Catherine Bernice Taylor Hall of Millsboro passed away peacefully in her sleep at Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa., Thursday, May 2, 2019. Catherine “Kitty” was born at home in Millsboro April 14, 1953, to the late David Lynwood and Sarah Elizabeth Taylor. Preceding her in death are her husband, Aldon D. Hall; her siblings Sylvia “Jennie” Santiago, Priscilla Taylor-Snell, Dwight E. Taylor and Wanda A. Taylor; and her great-niece (granddaughter) Aliyah Christine Simms.

Catherine graduated from Sussex Central High School; she attended Delaware Technical Community College and received her associates degree in business administration. She furthered her education at Wilmington University, receiving her bachelor of science degree in human resource management and her master’s degree in public administration.

Kitty started her working career at the Laurel School District; after several years she got a job working as a probation oficer in Probation and Parole in Dover. Later she transferred to the Georgetown office as a supervisor. Kitty worked as a state employee for over 35 years before retiring to take care of her husband.

Kitty married the love of her life, the late Aldon D. Hall, Jan. 1, 2008, at Union Wesley United Methodist Church in Clarksville. Kitty went all out for her wedding, including renting a stretch limousine for her and Al. Her nieces and nephews commandeered the driver and vehicle, went joy riding, and did not return until she called the driver and told him to come pick her and Al up! They were a little late starting their honeymoon!

Kitty loved her family, gardening, shopping and decorating. She would spend countless hours in the yard or redoing mom and dad’s house. When one of her nieces or nephews moved she would take them shopping in her numerous storage sheds! They could pick up items to start up their home.

Catherine leaves to cherish her memories, eight siblings, Shirley Conaway of Harrington, Linda Perry (Lawrence) of Chesapeake, Va., Pamela Taylor and Bertha Taylor of Millsboro; Bruce Taylor (Heidi) of Georgetown, Robert Taylor (Anna), Sebrena Taylor and Gail Reid (Linwood), all of Millsboro. Catherine raised two of her nieces, LaRicka Taylor of Millsboro and Jessica Taylor of Baltimore, Md.; godchildren, Telisa Snell of Cleveland, Ohio, Gregory Taylor Jr. of Millsboro; and a host of nieces and nephews who called themselves her grandchildren.

A funeral service and celebration of her life will be held  at 11:30 a.m., Friday, May 10, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call for viewing and visitation from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.  Burial will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
