Catherine G. Carey, devout Christian
Catherine “Cathy” G. Carey of Milton passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025, at Beebe Healthcare after a brief illness.
Cathy was born in Milford, daughter of the late Clifford and Doris (Chandler) Legates. She graduated from Milton High School Class of 1966. After graduation, she attended cosmetology school and enjoyed being a stylist for her family members. In 1967, she married Donald E. Carey and shortly thereafter, he was called to serve in the U.S. Army. She spent her life caring for her family as a loving homemaker and supportive military wife.
Cathy raised show rabbits and thoroughly enjoyed traveling to shows and competitions, where she won many awards and accolades for her prized rabbits. A quiet soul, Cathy enjoyed the 700 Club ministries channel, shopping yard sales and blueberry picking with her husband and family. She attended Christian Tabernacle for many years, and most recently, Eagles Nest Fellowship Church.
In addition to her parents, Cathy is preceded in death by her daughter, Faith E. Walrath; and her sister, Bonnie (Legates) Hitchens.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Donald E. Carey; and two grandchildren, Ethan Cash and Emily Cash.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 416 Federal St., Milton. A time of visitation for family and friends will begin at noon. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton.
