Cathy Denise (Ferrier) Walker, devout Christian
Cathy D. (Ferrier) Walker, 64, of Laurel passed away unexpectedly in her home Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021. She was a devout Christian, devoted mother and grandmother, and faithful servant of Christ. Cathy was the youngest of three children born to Mary (Chaffins) Fisher and Carl Ferrier in Wilmington.
Cathy graduated from Sussex Central High School in Georgetown in 1976 and continued her studies at Delaware Tech. She worked locally for many years until she found her true calling as a salesperson. She excelled as a home sales consultant, primarily at Atlantis and Oakwood Homes in Delmar, and was also an Amway independent business owner for over 25 years. Cathy had a true entrepreneurial spirit and was considered a social butterfly by her family and close friends.
Cathy was a loving, giving, compassionate person and always was the first to help someone in need. She had a passion for helping all, especially children and animals. One of her proudest times was when she volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children. She participated in many children sponsorship programs to assist in giving those in need a better life. Cathy also had a soft spot for stray cats and adopted many over the years. She loved being a “cat mom” and would gladly send you pictures of her fur babies. In her spare time, you could typically find her reading, camping, perusing antique shops, searching for a good bargain, attending a Bible study, or spending time with family and friends.
Cathy was predeceased by her mother, Mary Lou (Chaffins) Fisher; her father, Carl Ferrier; and her brother, Bruce Feldman.
She is survived by her life partner, John Jones; daughter and son-in law, Carla and Brad Hiller; sister Diane Parseghian; grandson, Ethan Hiller; niece, Julie Hudson (Chris); nephew, Steven Parseghian (Heather); as well as numerous other “adopted” nieces, nephews, and friends.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m., at Bridgeville Cemetery, 2 N. Laws St., Bridgeville. A reception will follow at the Ross Mansion Event Center, 585 N Market St. Ext., Seaford.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in Cathy’s name to either CASA, 6 W. Market St., Suite 1, Georgetown, DE 19947, or Delaware SPCA, www.delspca.org/tribute-gifts, two organizations Cathy felt strongly about.
