Charles Earl ‘Bobby’ Compton, loved retirement life

Mr. Charles Earl "Bobby" Compton, 78, died suddenly Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at his home in Georgetown.

Bobby was born Oct. 7, 1938, in Washington D.C., to the late Earl and Mable Leapley Compton. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Eddie Compton; and a brother John Carroll Compton.

He worked for 32 years for District Government Printing Division/ Binding. He retired in 1995 and moved from Clinton, Md., to Georgetown in 1997. He loved retirement life, simply feeding his birds, sitting on the front porch in the summer overlooking his yard.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Helen Marie Luskey Compton; his devoted daughter Christine Marie Inglett-Compton; nine grandchildren, Molly, Ty and Eric Inglett, Tony Heefner, Eddie Compton Jr., Patricia Largen, Jesse, Shane and Jacob Compton. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Nora Virginia "Ginger" Albrittain; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

He will be cremated with burial at sea along with his son Eddie. A private memorial service and gathering of friends and family will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Shriners Hospital for Children or the American Heart Association.
