January 27, 2024

Southern Delaware Chorale will present A Choral Tapestry in celebration of Black History Month at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, north of Rehoboth Beach.

All are invited to join the chorale and its guests as they pay tribute to the immense contributions of Black composers to the choral music world. Special guests are the Cantabile Women’s Chorus, Sussex Tech High School Bella Voce Ensemble and Sussex Community Gospel Mass Choir. Attendees can expect to be serenaded with a variety of music genres, spanning from spirituals and gospel to jazz and contemporary classical.

Tickets are $25 per person, available at the door or online at southerndelawarechorale.org. Children 17 and under attend free.

In partnership with the Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice, the chorale aims to foster unity and build bridges within the diverse communities in Sussex County and beyond. Attendees will also have a chance to become familiar with the work of the alliance through introductory remarks and an information table set up in the lobby. An information table and a scholarship donation opportunity will also be set up for the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, continuing a partnership that began in 2023.
