Christine Webster Evans, nursing home administrator
Christine Webster Evans, 75, formerly of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Monday, Sept. 5, 2022, at Suncoast Hospice in Clearwater, Fla.
She was born in Princess Anne, Md., March 27, 1947, to the late David B. Webster and the late Peggy S. Webster.
She was a 1965 graduate of Washington High School, Princess Anne. Christine was a graduate of Virginia Intermont College, Bristol, Va., and Emory and Henry College, Emory, Va. While in college, she was a member of Kappa Phi Alpha Sorority and Sigma Tau National Honorary Fraternity. Chris was also Phi Pi Alpha sweetheart, May Day Princess, and a member of the 1968 homecoming court.
Christine was administrator of Lewes Convalescent Center and Harbor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for over two decades before retiring in Florida.
Chris and her late husband of 51 years, John T. Evans, loved to travel. They went on several cruises and visited many tropical countries. Two of their favorite spots were the Oak Bar in New York City and St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
While in high school, Christine enjoyed competing in pageants on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. She was Miss Somerset County 1964, Miss Somerset County Fair Queen 1964, Miss Outdoors 1965, and Miss Skipjack 1965.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Evans; her brother, David C. Webster; her nephew, Rodger D. Daugherty; and beloved pets, Pepper, Coco, Jason and Bogart.
Chris is survived by her sister, Jackie W. Mitchell and her husband Wayne L. Mitchell of Rehoboth Beach.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her name to her favorite charity, Delaware SPCA.
