Starting Friday, Oct. 29, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “Only the Animals,” a riveting mystery drama that is told from the points of view of five principal characters.
Following the disappearance of glamourous housewife Evelyne Ducat (Valeria Bruni Tedeschi), the lives of five people inextricably linked to her are brought together to devastating effect as the local police investigate the case. Elegantly structured and darkly funny, this audacious thriller reveals the secret connections of a lonely farmer, an unfaithful husband and wife, a lovelorn waitress, and an African con artist to expose a world of greed, lust, betrayal, desperation, and murder spanning the wintry French highlands to the sun-kissed streets of Sierra Leone. With an outstanding cast, including an astonishing performance by Denis Ménochet (Inglorious Basterds), Only The Animals finds director Dominik Moll at the height of his filmmaking powers as he masterfully exposes the secret connections that lie at the heart of this mystery. Winner of Best International Film at the 2021 Munich Film Festival.
