Compassionate Friends chapter releases butterflies in memory of children

September 28, 2024

The Lighthouse Chapter of The Compassionate Friends held its annual butterfly release Sept. 14, at George H.P. Smith Park in Lewes. The butterfly release was in memory of children lost too young.

The ceremony began with a meditative walk around Blockhouse Pond among friends. It concluded with the release of 26 butterflies into the beautiful park scenery.

The Compassionate Friends is a group that helps families who’ve suffered the worst possible feeling of losing a child. Group members come together to support one another and provide comfort throughout the grieving process.
