The Big Draw Festival Delaware, presented by Mispillion Art League, will offer free, family-friendly art activities from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 8, on Park Avenue in downtown Milford.
The league is organizing this year’s theme, Come Back to Color, as a way for the community to gather and celebrate the joy of color, family, culture and heritage by creating art through experimentation and creativity.
All are welcome to help create a sidewalk chalk art masterpiece, with materials supplied by the art league. Chalk art is a great tradition to boost creativity and drawing skills, and is fun for all ages. And what’s better than a messy activity with no cleanup?
While playing with sidewalk chalk, kids develop color recognition, work on sorting and matching skills, and improve fine motor skills.
There also will be sandcastle building, pumpkin painting, and a variety of drawing and painting activities for participants of all ages.
First organized in the United Kingdom 22 years ago, the Big Draw Festival is now the world’s biggest celebration of drawing. It promotes the universal language of drawing as a tool to learn, express and invent.
