We were all hoping for a new Cyberpunk 2077 trailer, but I don’t think anyone expected that Keanu Reeves would, 1) announce the game’s release date on stage at Microsoft’s presser or 2) that he would be featured in the game!
Right at the end of the new cinematic trailer, a character who looks identical to Keanu Reeves takes off his sunglasses, and, at that moment, the Internet lost its collective mind. Immediately following the trailer, Reeves walked onto the Microsoft stage to talk about the game.
While Reeves was talking about how “breathtaking” the game looks, someone in the crowd (my hero) yelled, “YOU’RE breathtaking!” In true Reeves fashion, he smiled and returned the compliment. Man, what a guy. If you can’t tell, I’ve had a crush on Reeves since I first saw Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. That aside, this game looks absolutely incredible.
No, you won’t actually be playing as Keanu Reeves … I don’t think the world is ready for that just yet. Reeves is starring as a non-playable character named Johnny Silverhand, a character from the 1988 tabletop RPG, Cyberpunk 2020. I’m personally not familiar with Cyberpunk 2020, but it seems that Reeves is the perfect fit for the character of Johnny Silverhand - a “rebel rocker who uses music and revolt to fight authority.”
Cyberpunk 2077 arrives on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on April 16, 2020. In case you’re wondering, that’s a little over 300 days from now. I’ll definitely be pre-ordering this soon!
