Daisy Williamson, woman of God

Daisy Elizabeth Williamson, 78, departed this life Monday, Sep. 28, 2015, at Beebe Medical Center Lewes. She was born Aug. 5, 1937, in Wilson, N.C., to Juanita Ames and the late Columbus Ward. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt. Daisy was a woman of God and loved her family and friends. She was very outspoken and you never had to guess what was on her mind. She was willing to help anyone whenever she could.

Daisy met her husband Hodges (Ray) Williamson Sr. in Frederica, and they married Aug. 23, 1956. From that union came six children and eight grandchildren.

Daisy worked at the Avenue Restaurant and Sand Castle Motel. She l loved to listen to gospel music, go shopping, and watch her favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys.

She was preceded in death by her father, Columbus Ward and her sister, Peggy Inez Ward Richards.

She leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Juanita Ames of Lewes; and her children Lorena Baines (Thomas) of Lewes, Darlena Neal (Donald) of Millsboro, Juanita Williamson of Dover, Hodges Williamson Jr. (Shirley) of Milton, Sharon Mann (Norman) of Millsboro, and Rodney Henry Williamson (Sherry) of Camden; six brothers, Joseph Leroy Ward of Alexandria, Va., William Leon Ward of Washington, D.C., John Lee Hall, Donald Ray Hall, Robert James Ames (Sonja), all of Delaware, and George Henry Ames Jr. (Sandra) of Columbia, S.C.; three sisters, Mary and Ward Allmond of Brooklyn, N.Y., Brenda Kay Maull (Julius) of Delaware, and Carolyn Ames-Haggins (Brockiand) of New Jersey; eight grandchildren, Brendon, Michael, Michelle, Boyd II, Trevor Jr., Christopher, Alexis, Jasmine; and a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Oct. 5, at Lewes Church of Christ at The Crossing, 15183 Coastal Hwy., Milton. Family and friends may call two hours prior to service.
