DAR partners to promote inclusivity in real estate
In a significant stride toward fostering diversity and inclusivity within the real estate industry, the Delaware Association of Realtors signed a landmark memorandum of understanding Jan. 12 with the National Association of Real Estate Brokers Region 3. The partnership underscores a shared commitment to creating a more inclusive environment for Black real estate agents, and addressing the critical issues of discrimination and fair housing that impact Black home buyers and sellers.
Promoting an inclusive environment, the MOU establishes a foundation for a welcoming space for Black real estate agents, aiming to reflect the diverse and dynamic nature of communities within the real estate industry.
By partnering with NAREB Region 3, DAR underscores its dedication to becoming a diversity leader in the industry, seeking to benefit from the partnership's wealth of knowledge and experience.
The partnership is set to elevate the discourse around the challenges faced by Black home buyers and sellers, advocating for equal housing opportunities and actively combating discrimination.
A cornerstone of the MOU is the focus on educating DAR members about effectively engaging with the Black community, ensuring that members are well informed, respectful and inclusive in their professional interactions.
"As we celebrate Black History Month, this partnership marks a significant step forward in our ongoing journey toward a more inclusive real estate industry," said George Thomasson, DAR president. "Together with NAREB Region 3, we are committed to making meaningful changes that not only support Black real estate agents, but also enhance the overall home buying and selling experience for Black communities."
